Fractured Bar Repair

Dear Visitor:

Welcome to our website!  Highlights of a research project on post-earthquake damage repair of reinforced concrete bridge columns are presented on this site.  The study is funded by Caltrans through grant No. 65A0388.  However, the material and opinions presented on this site are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of Caltrans. Special thanks are due Dr. Saad El-Azazy and Dr. Charles Sikorsky, the Caltrans Research Program Managers, for their support and advice.  The interest and comments of Mr. Mike Keever and Dr. Mark Mahan of Caltrans are also much appreciated.

This project is being conducted in collaboration with the Missouri University of Science and Technology under the direction of Dr. Lesley Sneed and the University of Houston under the direction of Dr. D.J. Belarbi.  The original column tests were funded through the National Science Foundation NEESR grant CMMI- 0530737 under the direction of Dr. Belarbi.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites were donated by Fyfe Co. LLC and Quakewrap Inc. Mechanical couplers were provided by Erico International Corporation and BarSplice Products Inc. Shoring towers and pumping services were donated by Goedecke. Prospect Steel Company donated materials for the test setup.

Please feel free to use the material with acknowledgement that includes statements such as “…funded by Caltrans and directed by M. Saiidi, L. Sneed, and D.J. Belarbi.” We welcome your comments about this site.
